This 6” x 8.5” photo album has 9 pages, and contains fifteen 5.625” x 3.5” photographs of scenes from a theatrical performance of the “Retablo de Torturas” (Altarpiece of Torture).

Audiences members are seen perplexed, laughing, and unfazed during the show. The torture in question could be the two women wearing blackface, several crossdressing men, a woman made to clean up broken plates as the men watch or carelessly look away. Or the name could be a reference to the 15th century paintings by the same name. There is no indication where this was made or by who, but appears to be from around 1960 and looks to be American.

The photographs are held to the pages by corner tabs. Between most pages are a semi-transparent protective sheet.
