13 x 10.24” string-bound photo album with a black textured cover on which “Photographs” is written in gold. This album is almost entirely filled with 400 black and white photos from a family’s travels throughout America. There are some photos that are dated 1926 and 1927, and later on in the album there are photos that I recognize from being from the Pan American Exposition of 1901, with some lovely night shots. The family’s travels took them to other places including Yellowstone National Park, Washington, D.C., Arlington, Virginia, Annapolis, Maryland, Ogunquit, Maine, the Catskills, and the Adirondacks. There are also some commercial shots from Quebec. Dorothy is one of the women identified in the white handwritten captions that accompany some of the photos. Photographs measure between 1.75 x 1.75” and 9.25 x 3.25” and are held to the black pages with corner tabs. Most of the photos feature breathtaking views of Old Faithful and other geysers, canyons, and falls, as well as mountains, cliffs, and some truly spectacular views of the Maine coast. There are also several photos of animals encountered in Yellowstone, such as bears, deer, beavers, and buffalo. From the trips to cities, there are photos of the Capitol, the Pan-American Union, and several monuments.
