INDUSTRIAL INDIA POWER PLANT 1950s PHOTO ALBUM

Item #437

13.25 x 9.5” album with a black spine and white-grey textured cover. A name which appears to read Victor Wouter is written on the inside front cover, along with a label for LITOSROJ, which I believe is the factory in India pictured inside. The album is full of 20 large black and white photos with captions written in English. They include photos of EOT (electric overhead traveling) cranes and related equipment prepared for places in India, including Panchet Hill Power Station, Koyna Power Project in Bombay, Durgapur Thermal Power Station, and the Bhakra Nangal Power Project in Punjab. There is also a view of a large crane arrangement for Bhakra Dam, which the caption states “the greatest crane in India.” All of these projects have to do with power plants and dams across India. The neatly handwritten annotations accompany each photo and describe the carrying weight for the cranes in tons and notes photographs of test loading, trolleys, outdoor crane cages, and girders. The photographs are largely devoid of people aside from the last photograph featuring a man standing next to a bottom block and small figures of people on the floor of the factory in another photo. Photographs measure between 6.75 x 8.75” and 9.5 x 7” and it appears that only the top of each photograph has been glued to the pages. In front of each photograph is a thin, transparent spider-web patterned paper that protects the photos. While no date is provided in the album, based on the projects mentioned the photographs are likely from between the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s.

Price: $350.00
