MICHIGAN, OHIO 1920s-30s PHOTO ALBUM
10.25"X 13.25" photo album with about 475 photos, about 40 of which are loose in an enclosed envelope. The album dates from the mid 1920s to the mid 1930s, with the above mentioned envelope addressed to Mr. R. C. Sweeney, at the State Health Department in White Plains, NY. This is the only thing from New York in the album, but it does indicate that this album was put together by Sweeney. He seemed to be a Sanitary Engineer and there are larger photos in the album from the Special Class Sanitary Reserve, Master Plumbers in Youngstown, Ohio, Chicago Sanitary District, Toledo Traveling Engineers, Sanitation class and the Ohio Sewage Treatment Conference. During the time period of this album, it appears that Sweeney lived in Michigan, with places mentioned including 8 Point Lake, Lansing Masonic Temple, Hughton Lake, CCC at Stratford, Mt. Clemens and Glen Lake. Other photos show MSC (Michigan State College) with President Butterfield and the New Chemistry building. There are also places mentioned in Ohio, including Buckeye Lake and Indian Lakes, along with some short trips to Florida, Colorado and Pennsylvania. There are military photos, biplanes, hunting trips, and lots of family photos. Many of the photos are annotated and/or dated.
The album is complete, with various sized photos glued to the page. One photo has a tear, otherwise it is in good condition. A nice family album with a sanitary bend.
