15 1/2” x 11 1/8” album of 26 leaves/ 52 pages. The cover is embossed in gold with text that reads: “Italy, Spain 1907”. 156 items enclosed within recount a trip toward the shores of Italy and Spain which departed from NY on March 2 1907 via the SS Celtic. Items include snapshots, albumen photos, and a few postcards all glued to the page.
The traveler is charmed by the architecture of Siena, the landscape of Perugia, the people and piazzas de Roma. Their camera focuses on the streets, the mountains, glimpses of cathedrals, gardens, etc. These people and places appear, illuminated on each page with diligent captions in white ink.
This book provides sight-seeing along travel throughout Rome, Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Naples, Alhambra, Seville, Madrid, Toledo, and Cordova. On the final page, we learn that the steamship Friedrich Der Grosse delivered this traveler safely home to New York on May 16, 1907.
Snapshots measure 5 1/2” x 3 1/4”. Albumen photos are much larger though vary in size. It appears that all photos and pages are intact from the time of curation. Cover is damaged: wear at edges, scratches, cracks, and metal spine is visible.
