BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, PHILADELPHIA, PA 1928-1975 PHOTO ALBUM

Item #885

18 leaves/35 pages line this 9 7/8” x 11 1/2” three-ring binder. Within, there are 106 photos (most measure 3 1/2” x 2 1/2”); merit badges, certificates, letters of recognition, pins, newspaper clippings, photocopies, and other ephemera. Of the material dated, it appears that the contents of this album span the time between 1928-1975, with 1928 containing the original items from a Boy Scout and the later items being family photos and Boy Scout reunions.

Photographs display John Patterson and fellow scouts on camping trips, practicing golf, archery, swimming, and celebrating their achievements. Certificates belonging to a young John “Jack” Patterson outline the achievements of this honorable scout. A letter from the Chief Scout Executive “James West” congratulates Patterson on the approval of Eagle Scout after the completion of various merits. According to documents herein, John Patterson moved up the ranks from young Boy Scout acquiring merits in 1928 to that of Assistant District Commissioner of the same Philadelphia Council.

There is approximately a decade of absence when an invitation to the 50th anniversary dinner for troop 249 appears to be celebrated on April 1969.

The last few photos are of a much older man, presumably to be John Patterson and company. The very last photo in the album has a note written on verso that indicates the photo was taken I Atlantic City in 1975. The photo is of an elderly couple, presumably John Patterson and his wife.

Photos are encased in this three-ring black binder behind plastic sheaths atop black album pages. One page appears to be missing an item or two. The photos are in overall good condition.

Price: $300.00
