CIVIL WAR ERA AUTOGRAPH MEMORY BOOK - HULING FAMILY, SARATOGA SPRINGS NY

Item #857

3.75” x 4” memory album/autograph book with gilded edges and a cover embossed with a floral pattern. It has 56 leaves/112 pages, with many detached from the frayed binding. The pages are mostly white, with bright green and light gray sections.

The first page indicates this was “the property of Mary Germain Huling,” and it is dated 1861 on the first page along with 1879 on another page. One of five photos included show her father, Edmund James Huling, who fought in the Civil War, along with one of her mother, Anna Huling Spooner. The family was from Saratoga Springs, NY.

There are several autographs, many on scraps of paper pasted onto the page. There are numerous stickers and paste-ins, some metallic in nature; two flower petals and what appears to be a calling card for Tom Thumb.

This item has seen better days but shows a nice window into Civil-War era pastimes.

Price: $150.00
