1940s MOVIE MEMORABILIA - BLACKIE'S COLORTOWN THEATER MANASQUAN NJ - HANDBILLS

Item #846

A bit of movie history from the 1940s. More than 35 handbills, which are both typed and handwritten on both sides, with many being two pieces of paper which are stapled together. They are from Blackie’s Colortown & Manasquan Theatres, currently the Algonquin Theatre, a fixture in downtown of Manasquan, NJ. They measure 3.5” x 6.5,” and have rust to the staples and chipping to the edges. They also have a postage box, but I don't see any addresses. I believe that Colortown refers to movies which were just starting to be made in color instead of black & white, but more research needs to be done. Many stars and movies of the day are included here: James Cagney, Olivia DeHaveland and Rita Hayworth in Strawberry Blonde, Jack Benny in Love Thy Neighbor, Ginger Rogers in Kitty Foyle, etc.

Well loved movie memorabilia from the 1940s.
