1920 WYOMING - ENGINEER on LINCOLN HIGHWAY - PHOTO ALBUM
Item #779
7" x 10" paper photo album, with a missing front cover and detached back cover. Written on the first page is "Along the Lincoln Highway, S.W.5, 1920." There are 57 photos, which mostly measure 2.25" x 3.25" and are slipped into corner slots that are cut into the page. There are some annotations in the album including Skipper Russell, Rossil Rocks, Blazon coal Mine, Southern exposure of continental Divide, Greenriver Wyo, Sand Stone Formations, Carter Dome Oilfields, etc. There are two poems in the album, one of which is typewritten and titled "The Hobo Engineer." You can read it in the photos, but it appears to me that this album was put together by a Surveyor. There are a few missing photos, but because of the slots in the pages, it is hard to figure how many. I would guess about five. A lovely look at life from over 100 years ago.
