Item #723

12.25 x 8” dark green string-bound album with “Photographs” in a decorative silver oval. Contains close to 100 black-and-white photos and 11 color postcards from a trip to Hawaii, Alaska and Vancouver, BC, from around 1920. One of the children photographed is identified as Ursula Cole. Most of the photos are gorgeous views of Hawaii, locals, and especially volcanos, but there are also photos of white-uniformed soldiers. More photos show volcano road, a banyan tree, Honolulu Harbor, and Waikiki Beach (misspelled as Wakaki in annotations). Most of the photos are from Hawaii, but others are from trips to Vancouver, B.C., and Alaska. There are some color postcards throughout the album which depict the Moana Hotel in Honolulu, brightly colored tropical fish, the S. S. Jefferson at Taku Glacier, sled dogs, and indigenous people of the Skeena River. There is an amusing clipping of the Prince of Wales on Waikiki Beach, which, as the caption states, “shows the reason for his popularity in this king-devouring age.” There are annotations in pencil that can be hard to make out, and some photos have some staining, creasing and tears or bends. A couple of pages are unused, otherwise the album is complete.

Price: $299.00
