COLORADO - TWO 1920s PHOTO ALBUMS

Item #698

Two 1920s photos albums from the 1920s, from a family in Colorado. There are around 200 photos in total in these two albums and include:

The first album measures 10.25 x 7.25,” and has a taped spine and color illustrations of significant locations in Colorado on the cover. This album contains around 108 black-and-white snapshots of people and places in Colorado. The album seems to show one family, who enjoyed time spent in Estes Park, the Stanley Motel, and Boulder Canyon. Aside from some gorgeous nature shots, there are also photos of women, sailors, family, friends, automobiles, and children. Photos measure between .75 x 1” and 3.25 x 5.25” and are either pasted to the page or held using corner tabs. The photos are accompanied by annotations that identify people and places, often in a witty way. At least 2 photos are loose.
The second album in this collection is leather-bound, 7.75 x 5.5”, with a Western illustration on the front along with a poem. The back cover of the album says “Denver.” Much like the first album, this one also contains around 87 black-and-white snapshots of places in Colorado. Specifically, in this album there are photos of Teller County, Lyons, Brighton, and eerie photos of the Goldfield ghost town. Photos measure between 1 x 1.25” and 4.75 x 4” and are held to the pages with corner tabs, accompanied by annotations identifying people and places. There is at least one loose photo.

Poem on front of album
Out Where The West Begins.
Out where the handclasp’s a little
stronger
Out where the smile dwells a
little longer
That’s where the West begins.
Where there’s more of singing
and less of sighing,
Where there’s more of giving
and less of buying,
And a man makes friends
without half trying,
That’s where the West begins.

Price: $395.00
