13.25 x 10.25” brown string-bound album with “Photographs” on the cover in gold and a embossed frame design. On the first page, “Photo Album” is handwritten over and over, with “By B. Nichols” circled towards the bottom of the page. The album contains around 40 black and white photos from Bessie Nichols’ last years at Thayer and first years at E.C.H (in or around Keene, NH I believe). As such, most of the photos are of Bessie’s friends and classmates, including wonderful pictures of the men and women's basketball teams, 1949 prom, and a class trip to New York. There are also photos of Bessie in her cap and gown, and later, photos of the E.C.H. Glee Clubs in New Hampshire from 1950-51, and 1951-52. There are 2 loose photos, one of which is from a friend. One of these is a portrait of a woman named “Shirl” on which she has written: “Best of Luck in your Nursing Profession, Always, ‘Shirl’”. Photos measure between 3.5 x 3.5” and 10 x 8.25” and are held to the pages with corner tabs, accompanied by handwritten annotations. At least one photo is missing.
