The thick brown 9.5 x 11” album contains a plethora of photos and newspaper clippings documenting part of the career of Joan Exnicios, a model in the Washington, D.C. area in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the clippings and photos in the album are loose, but there are around 20 professional headshots and photos in plastic sleeves held by the metal spirals of the album, 2 of which are in color. Loose within the album are around 48 other professional photos of Joan modeling for advertisements and in fashion shows. Photos measure between 3.25 x 4.25” and 12 x 9.5” and are mostly not annotated, although on the backs of some, Joan has noted what event or company the photo is for. The clippings are all of Joan’s various modeling gigs, almost all for fashion, hats, and hair styles. Newspapers that she appeared in include the Washington Post, Washington Daily News, The Evening Star, and Automotive News. Joan was part of the 1955 Automobile Show queen race and participated in a Sleeping Beauty themed bridal show in 1960. The album is jam packed and there is some light curling and a few photos with edge wear to creases.
