1910s WHIMSICAL PHOTO ALBUM AMUSINGLY CAPTIONED - WWI - FAMILY and FRIENDS 700 PICS

This black 13.25” x 11.25” photo album had around 700 black and white photos from the 1910s of family and friends. What makes this album stand out are the annotations, which have all been clipped out of newspapers and other texts and used to describe almost every photo in the album, often with amusing results. Using this method, the person who put together the album comments on friends, family, children, and marriages. While the individuals are never identified by name, there are people who appear in the pictures again and again, including a couple of Nuns, and a frequent photographing spot appears to have been a building which bears the sign “B.C. Wilson - Decorator”. Locations are also not always identified, but at least some photos were taken in California, and there are also stunning photos of the Cedar River in Waterloo flooding. Most of the pictures are of people and show them posing, having fun, and there are photos of parades during World War I. Photographs measure between 1” x .75” and 5.75” x 3.5” and are glued to the pages or held to them with corner tabs, with the cut-out annotations. The album is completely full, although around 3 pictures appear to be missing.
