Cardboard box with over fifty handwritten recipes and receipts, mostly from the 19th century. Someone has written on the box in pencil "Old papers, 1836, mostly old recipes." I did find a few dated items in the box, with the oldest being 1831 and running to 1915. They come from a house in either Canton or Milton, Maine and my guess is that most of these items are from the second half of the 19th century. There are recipes for things such as dark cake, cottage pudding, cream pie crush, chili sauce, etc. Some recipes appear to have been sent by friends and are on stationary, while others are just written on bits of paper. There are also some newspaper clippings and handbills and some accounting items.
