WISCONSIN & MICHIGAN LAKES 1906/1907 LOGGING LUMBER PHOTO ALBUM
Item #583
7.75 x 5.75” small black photo album with a fleur-de-lis debossed on the front cover. The inside front cover identifies the album as “Ma’s Book - From Sonny” with pictures from “Star Lake, Wisc.— 1906 & 1907”. There are around 70 black and white photos from Star Lake and several other lakes in Wisconsin, including Katinka Lake, Papoose Lake, Mud Lake, Little Bass Lake, and Manitowish River. Lakes from Michigan and Minnesota also feature, including Lake Irving, Rice Creek, Presque Isle River, Lake Laura, and Muskallonge Lake. People also make appearances in the pictures, most commonly Sonny and Bessie and it looks like they were involved in the logging or lumber business. Photos measure between 1.5 x 2.25” and 4 x 3” and are glued to the pages with annotations identifying the lakes and people pictured. The album is not completely filled, but the final two pages feature 2 newspaper clippings: the first, from 1955, shows the four daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wohlford, while the second shows those same daughters years later at one sister’s wedding.
