7” x 8.5” leather bound memory books with “Autographs” in gilded letters on the cover. The album belonged to Clara F. Dodge of Compton Village, NH, whose name is written in a colorful display on the first page. Most of the dates are from the mid 1870s, and many start with “Dear Teacher.” There are about 75 different entries in the book, including a calligraphy flourish, a painting, a drawing, some lines written in code, etc. There are also some locks of hair, and slips of paper inserted into the pages, including one from her son, Everett Davis, in 1893. The outer part of the spine is gone and there is some edge wear and rubbing. A lovely keepsake.
