Item #466

8.5 x 6.25” album missing its front and back cover; the spine is brown. Contains around 54 black and white photos held to the black pages with corner tabs. Corner tabs also hold the typed annotations, which identify the locations in the photos as parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and North Carolina. The album dates from the early 1960s and seems to have been put together by a couple who went on a road trip to those states. They photographed such attractions as the DeSoto Falls, Noccalula Falls, the State Capitol in Birmingham, the first white house of the Confederacy, the home of Jefferson Davis, Bellingrath Gardens, the Old Spanish Fort, Biloxi Lighthouse, and several views of New Orleans. Several color postcards from the trip have come loose in the back of the album, and there are a couple of empty sugar packets and hotel receipts. There is also a loose pamphlet for the U.S.S. Alabama Battleship Commission. Photographs measure between 3.5 x 4.5” and 5 x 3.5” and some say April on the margins.

Price: $195.00
