Item #435

13 x 10” string-bound brown faux leather album with “Photographs” written in a very faded gold on the front cover. There is black writing against the black endpaper of the inside front cover; while not all of the text can be read, “Brooklyn, N.Y. Parents of Hope N. Drexler” can be made out. This charming album tracks the relationship of Lee and Eddie from their first date on May 7, 1952 to their engagement on June 25th and to their wedding day on October 19, 1952. Throughout the black-page album are colorful drawings depicting Lee and Eddie, a road trip, and gifts that Eddie gave to Lee, including rings, bracelets, and earrings. There are around 88 black and white snapshots that show Lee and Eddie on dates, meeting family and friends, at parties, and their wedding reception. Photographs measure between 2.75 x 3.5” and 3.5 x 5” and are held to the pages with corner tabs and glue. Around 15 pieces of ephemera taped in the album or loosely lying between pages. Most of this ephemera is in the form of gift cards from Eddie to Lee, birthday cards, and engagement cards. There is a card announcing Eddie and Lee’s engagement, a newspaper clipping from the New York Times with their engagement announcement, and a menu from a restaurant called Jahn’s in Richmond Hills, New York. At the back of the album are a napkin and doily. The album is complete and is a delightful look at post war dating to the altar.

Price: $475.00
