Circa 1910 photo signed by photographer Dorothy Hickling in pencil with her studio address of 117 Edbury Street, London, written to the left. The photo measures 4.25” x 5.5” and with the mount measures 5.75” x 6.5.” The woman is not identified, but I believe that she is English Poet and Novelist, Mary Webb (1881-1927). There is another photo by Dorothy Hickling online which is identified as Mary Webb, and they look to be the same woman. Regardless, this photo is quite striking. Two of Hickling’s portrait photos are in the collection of the National Gallery. The photo is in very good condition.
