1971 HAWAII PHOTO ALBUM UNDER WATER DIVING EXPLORATION FOR PROPOSED PLANT SITE

10” x 11.5” x 2.5” loose leaf note book holding over 150 photos, including about one hundred 3.5” x 4.75” color snapshots and fifty-seven 8” x 10 black and white photos. The photos mostly show Divers underwater with plant life. The smaller photos have code numbers and an occasional handwritten description or plant names. The larger photos are all dated 1971 and most says “Proposed Plant Site.” There is no indication what the Plant was.

Photos are lightly glued to the page and covered by a plastic cover. There are dividers between sections labeled:

Maalaea
Maui Proposed Site
Maui Proposed Site First Dive
Maalaea Bay second dive
Kaaawa Proposed Plant Site
Kaaawa/Kaneoe third Dive
Kahe

There are also a few empty snapshot photo envelopes with writing on them. As an example, one says “Maui, Oct1, ’71, 1st Dive in front of proposed site up to +400 ft out.”

There are a few empty slots, but it looks like only one photo is missing. The plastic covers are cracking and some are split and a few photos are becoming loose from the page.

A mystery waiting to be solved with some terrific images.
