NORUMBEGA PARK OUTSIDE OF BOSTON c. 1900 PHOTO ALBUM
Item #333
10.75” x 13.75” photo album with a total of forty-eight photos, one to a page, which on average measure 7” x 9.” The photos are not identified, but some signs shown in the photos reveal that this album is of Norumbega Park, which was a recreation area outside of Boston with transportation available by trolley. It was opened in 1897, and this album appears to be from around that time.
Some of the images show: Women’s Cottage – Exclusively for Women, Rustic Theater, Commonwealth Avenue Street Railway car, swings, the lake, dining room interior, the zoo, etc.
Four pages are missing photos, but there are four detached photos in the rear. The park closed in 1963, and this is quite the historic look at the park in its early years.
