9.25” x 11.5” photo album/scrapbook with over 100 photos, newspaper clippings and three drawings. There is a fabulous 5.75” x 8.75” broadside for a football game in 1915 between New Rochelle and Bridgeport Naval Militias and four of the photos are 8” x 10” shots showing inside the USS Granite State after a fire.
A letter on the inside cover on stationery from the Seventh Division First Battalion, NMNY in New Rochelle, NY, dated February 15, 1915, describes the first three-quarters of the album. It says:
“This scrapbook was presented to the Seventh Division First Battalion Naval Militia New York by Francis W., George W. and Thornton A. Sullivan. Members of the Division are requested to see that this book is not thrown around.”
The beginning dates from 1913-1915 and the back section is from 1921 on tour on the USS Arizona or/and USS Pennsylvania in the Panama Canal Zone.
