A collection of nineteen photos of mushrooms, found in a book on mushrooms. Written inside the cover is "Vining C. Dunlap, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, July 22, 1915." Dunlap was an American economic botanist, mycologist and soil scientist, who studied at Cornell, and earned his doctorate in 1920 with a thesis on the fungus genus Pleurotus. The book, a first edition is "Mushrooms, Edible, Poisonous, Etc.," by George Francis Atkinson. Atkinson was an American Botanist and Mycologist, who also went to and taught at Cornell. His herbarium of fungus specimens is in the Cornell collection. The photos of various sizes, from about 3" x 4.5" to 5" x 7," are all of mushrooms. Some are identified and written on the verso on one is "Onygena equina, coll. H.E. Stork, H.E. Rowler, V.C. Dunlap, Coy Glen, Ithaca, NY, Oct. 26, 1919. Photo, H.E.S." The photos are in very good condition, and the book has been well used, with the spine taped and notes in pencil inside.
