An “Official Inauguration Kit” issued following Lyndon B. Johnson’s January 20, 1965 inauguration and distributed by the Democratic National Committee to supporters of the 1964 presidential campaign. The kit includes an illustrated publication of Johnson’s inaugural address with a full-color portrait of the president, together with a large broadside printing the complete address on parchment-style paper. Measuring approximately 18" × 24", the broadside is ornamented with an eagle, gilt rules and the presidential seal and retains its original mailing folds.

Accompanied by a March 10, 1965 presentation letter from Democratic National Committee chairman John M. Bailey. The letter explains that the kit was sent as a token of appreciation to supporters who contributed to the Presidential Galas, a significant source of campaign funds. Bailey’s signature appears mechanically reproduced.

The original “Official Inauguration Kit” mailing envelope is addressed to James J. Stapleton of Bowie, Maryland, who reportedly later worked for Edward M. Kennedy’s campaign, providing an additional association with Democratic Party political history.

Broadside with original folds and some handling creases; publication with light edge and corner wear. Envelope worn and creased, with scattered spotting and handwritten identification. Overall very good.

A notably complete DNC presentation set retaining its explanatory letter and original addressed mailing envelope.
