Large double-sided Canadian albumen photograph by Wm. Notman & Son, Montreal, with a mounted image on each side of the same card. The mount measures approximately 10.5" x 13". One side contains an albumen print measuring about 7" x 9" showing an Indigenous camp scene with a tipi, dogs, and a woman wrapped in a blanket, with the photographer’s printed caption at lower edge. The reverse contains a second albumen photograph measuring approximately 6.5" x 9.25", depicting a dramatic mountain railroad view in the Selkirks, also with printed title and Notman imprint.

The camp scene is captioned in the period negative with now-dated language, reading “Cree Squaw with Papoose on Back & Teppee”; the railroad landscape appears captioned “Loop in the Selkirks, showing snowsheds.” Both images have the soft tonal range and expansive documentary quality associated with late 19th-century Canadian views issued by the Notman studio.

A striking survival: two separately titled western Canadian views mounted back-to-back on a single large card, combining an Indigenous subject image with a scenic railroad mountain view. Light overall wear and toning to mount and prints, as expected; good visual contrast and presentation overall.
