Impressive 17.5" x 20.5" sepia photograph of French actor Benoit-Constant Coquelin. The is from when he was Mascarille in Les Precieuses Ridicules, by Moliere, in 1888. It is signed "C. Coquelin, 3 Avril, 89' New York." There is also a smaller 4" x 5.75" photo from the same role, affixed to the upper left corner.
Coquelin won renown in Moliere's plays and as Cyrano de Bergerac. He toured America two times, once with Sarah Bernhardt"
There is light edge wear, but this unusually large photo for the time, is in good overall condition.
