12" x 14.5" photo album and scrapbook that show a Long Island Press reporter team coverage of the 1956 Republican National Convention at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and the Democratic convention that year in Chicago. Photos are from the event floor and the press rooms. They show politicians on the stage and floor, attendees, sites around the cities, and press members having fun with stewardesses on planes. Of note is a newspaper clipping mentioning that John Steinbeck was part of the Long Island Press reporter team present at the DNC. Thomas Dewey and Charles Kerrigan (UAW Director) are among others of note pictured inside. There are 45 photos in the album of various sizes, including some press photos, and various newspaper clippings. The pages are a bit brittle and a few photos are detached.
