PRESIDENT RICHARD NIXON PRESS PHOTO ALBUM 1972 RHODE ISLAND

Item #1402

Forty-three press photos of President Richard Nixon’s brief visit to Rhode Island the night before winning reelection in 1972. The first piece of material in this album is a press pass for GOP Photographer Frank DeLuca. This pass indicates the date and location of Nixon’s visit. These color images measure 5” x 4”. Each image is placed into a plastic sheath in this spiral bound 6 3/8” x 11 1/2” photo album. There are 22 leaves/22 pages. Four of the images, plus the press pass, are mounted on stiff card stock, while the majority of the images are flat files.

The 43 photographs exhibit the media frenzy surrounding the Presidential plane, from which Nixon gave a speech — microphone in hand while standing on the stairs. Depicted here is the president’s security guards, as well as a crowd of people in support of Nixon’s incumbency. Signs in the crowd read “Teamsters for Nixon” and “Coventry’s for Nixon”.

Distress is apparent on the covers. There is embossed paper remnants, and general peeling along the front and back covers. An insignia embossed onto the fabric at the inside of the front cover reads: “DeLuca Enterprises”.

Price: $295.00
