Over 1500 pieces of jewelry are photographed in this album. The inventory includes timepieces, wristwatches, cufflinks, pins, lockets, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Peer into a bygone era dripping with ornate jewelry made for the everyday.

This album was bought from a Blank estate in Cape Cod, and the owner told the buyer that it originally belonged to his relative, Henry Blank. Henry Blank and Company was the most successful Newark firm beginning in the 1890s and lasting until World War II. Beginning in the aughts of the 20th century their primary output was women’s wristwatches. Though, as indicated in the photographs in this album, Henry Blank and Company pursued the design of countless sterling silver and gold diamond-encrusted adornments.

The Company’s largest account was with the prestigious Tiffany and Company byway of their New York office. The company was not limited to the port of New York, they had accounts down to Philadelphia and across the country to distributors in San Fransisco. According to an article written in 2006 for The Magazine Antiques, there is evidence that Blank made watches for Patek, Philippe and Company, and Cartier.

There 42 leaves/34 pages, many of the leaves are not utilized, and there will be several pages of photos, then a few blank pages. The album measures: 14” x 11”. There is an Index glued to the inside cover that reads: brooches, handy pins, scarf pins, buttons, links, fobs, pendants, hat pins, festoons, lockets, sautoirs, vest chains, bracelets, collars. There are no other markings in the album. The spine is missing and several pages are detached. This is a case of the content being of interest in spite of the condition. It is a wonderful look at jewelry from the early part of the 20th century.
