Jack Youngblut, “one of the grandfathers of scuba diving in Ontario”, is responsible for these underwater images. There are twenty 7 1/8” x 5” images of littoral study. Seven images are in color, while all others are black and white. They are in good overall condition.
There are photographs of fish, turtles, and other scuba divers. On verso of several images he provides witty comment/titles. An image of a blending turtle and a printed turtle fighting over a fish head, reads: “losing your head at mealtime”. On verso of an image of a fish, reads: “your lipstick is smeared”. One image was submitted the Underwater Photographic Society’s Fifth Annual Photographic Exhibition.
A black and white image made from below the diver has a detailed description on verso which reads as follows: “Under Ice - February 1963 - George Jones has just entered water from hole through ice in rear. He had ice crystals in regulator and was blowing them out. Exhausted air looks like clouds against 2 ft. of ice. The light spots in background are holes in ice and ice removed from hole. The water has run out of hole and melted 18” snow on ice and [?] light through ice. The dark background is deep snow not melted. Visibility this day - 100 ft. water very clean.
