9 3/8” x 6 1/4” suede photo album with 31 leaves/62 pages. One hundred and forty-two snapshots recount a trip along the California coast. The name and date “Hazel Mae Markle, 1921” is burned unto the back cover, along with a painted and etched design on the front cover.
The album starts on the Sacramento River where steamboats dock. Soon we are at Seals Beach, where a wooden rollercoaster at the beach-side amusement park “The Joy Zone” which was built in 1916, and experienced brief popularity before restrictions on rubber and metal (due to the U.S. entering World War I).
There is a photo from Hal E. Roach Studios, famous for The Little Rascals, and other studio photos from Mixville, a Hollywood set built by/for Silent era actor Tom Mix, known for playing a cowboy in early westerns.

A note next to a photograph of two women standing next to a garden, states that the pictured grapevine was planted in 1775! There are many photographs of people playing in the ocean and along the beach shore, setting up camp, and generally enjoying the natural environment.
Four photos are missing from page, and one page is detached. Otherwise the photos and album are in good condition.
