An interesting lot of ephemera and photos from "Happy Child," an organization that seems to be run by Missionhurst in Arlington, Virginia. It is still in operation and on their website it says "Missionhurst is dedicated to sharing the hope and comfort of the Gospel, while relieving the suffering of our poorest, most neglected brothers and sisters ..." In this case, it is children at risk in Taiwan. There are two envelopes that say in part "From our Children to their Benefactors: Formosa is famous for its beautiful butterflies and we enjoy collecting them. Moreover, we found a nice way to send our beautiful butterflies to our benefactors. The plastics industry, one of the fastest growing industries on the the island, fixed our butterflies in durable material. We helped them and they help us to send a small token of our gratitude to our dear benefactors." One butterfly in plastic is enclosed. There are also thirty-four 3" x 4.5" photos of Taiwanese children from the late 1960s. Two of these have information about the child pictured and several have arrows drawn on the image pointing out a certain child. There are also two slightly larger and older photos. In good overall condition.
